If you’re in the race for the parent of the year and would like some extra points, you can make your kid a devil costume by yourself. A devil costume is a perfect chance for a DIY project with the kid, so get the DIY kit out and let the creative juices flow. To craft a devil costume, the first thing you’ll need is a red dress. For a little girl, a red gown will do, a red skirt with red leather leggings could also work while a boy could use a red robe. For boys, tie a black belt around your waist after putting on your robe.
Now you have your dress, the next step is crafting your devil’s horn as it’s an important part of your costume. There are many ways to make a devils horn but if you want a more realistic looking horn, here’s how you can make one using cardboard: all you’ll need to make a cardboard horn is some cardboard, scissors, glue and watercolour or paint.Check Price on Amazon
To begin, start by cutting a 30cm wide and 10cm long rectangle from the cardboard. Cut about 4 or 5 more rectangles only reducing the width by 2cm after every rectangle is cut. Next, fold the cut cardboard into cylinder shapes by joining their ends using glue. Now, join the cylinders together from largest to smallest by placing one on top of another and glueing it. Adjust it and add smaller or bigger cylinders cardboards if necessary until you have the required horn shape and length. Finish off your horn by painting it red and black to match your devil costume. You can attach it to your forehead using spirit gum or by sewing it onto a headband.
The next step is getting yourself a pitchfork which is an important accessory for your costume. To make a pitchfork, you’ll need a broomstick, red ribbon, cardboard box, and glue. To begin, remove the brush end of the broom and cover the stick in red ribbon till it’s completely covered. Draw a pitchfork shape into cardboard and cut it out, then attach the cardboard to the broomstick using glue. Once it’s dried, wrap the pitchfork in a red ribbon or spray paint it till it’s fully red.
With your pitchfork complete, all that’s left of your costume is some makeup. Paint your kid’s fingernails and toenails red if they’ll be visible. Paint around your kid’s eyes with a black eye shadow and with that, your kid’s devil’s outfit is complete and ready to scare all their friends.
