Women’s Police & Prisoner Costumes
In the world of Halloween Costumes, some of the more popular ones are different sides of the same coin. Angels and Demons, Cats and Dogs, Cowboys and Indians. All those great costumes aside, there is something about dressing up as a Police Officer. This costume commands respect and attention. Police Officers also inspire a little bit of awe. That same kind of vibe goes right along with the flip side of this coin. Prisoner costumes have their own hit of panache that goes along with them. It must be the “good girl gone bad” vibe that they give off. With both costumes the sky is the limit. Let your imagination run wild!
The first outfit is a standard Women’s Police Costume. This is an easy to make DIY project with only a few needed pieces. The best place to start looking for what you need is your local second hand or thrift store. Start with some dark blue or black dress pants and a belt. Combine that with a long-sleeved top in either light or dark blue and a dark tie. This costume can be dialed up to be a little on the racy side. For an Adult twist, don a miniskirt, catsuit, or figure-hugging dress. There are also romper style costumes available if this is a look you prefer. For footwear, you’ll need a pair of plain black lace up leather(or leatherlike)shoes. Bring the heat by wearing sexy stilettos or tall boots. Hobby or craft stores will have iron on or glue on crests and patches to decorate your shirt. A dollar or discount store will have more items that make great accessories. Badges, police hats, batons, and toy pistols help complete the costume. Don’t forget a whistle and a pair of sturdy handcuffs.Check Price on Amazon
Next up is a Policewoman from a K-9 Unit. This Halloween costume is the epitome of cool. Who wouldn’t love to catch bad guys with the help of a fearless and feisty canine? This is a fun costume to put together, and so easy to do. All you really need is a ball cap, some cargo pants in any color, and a tee shirt or even a comfortable sweatshirt. A simple thin outwear vest made into a Police vest is a bonus. Hit up the dollar store or your local craft store for some crests, badges, or lettering for your tee shirt. Your tee shirt should have “POLICE” on the back and a small “K-9 Unit” on the front left or right chest. Put another “K-9”on the front dome of the ball cap. Add into the mix some dark or mirrored shades, some handcuffs, a Police tactical belt, and a whistle. Footwear can be either plain sneakers or black boots. The best part of this costume? You can keep wearing most of the pieces after Halloween is long over. Find yourself a stuffed German Shepherd dog to tote around with you and you’ve finished your costume!Check Price on Amazon
Women’s Prisoner costumes are as much fun as the Women’s Policewomen’s costumes. Here is where you get to let your delinquent loose for an evening. Why don’t you see what kind of trouble you can find to get into? The attraction of this costume is its level of comfort and simplicity. A pair of lightweight tradesman’s coveralls will work well here if you decide to go the DIY costume route. Add in a plastic chain around your waist with a pair of handcuffs dangling from them. You can even work in some chains running from your ankles to your waist chain. Another must have for this costume is a ball and chain for your ankle. A stick-on tag with a prisoner number on the upper right or left is a nice touch. All these accessories can be found at a local retailer or online. To top it all off, you can handprint “property of” followed by the institution of your choice on the back. Plain sneakers will round this costume out. If you’d rather rock the “Orange is The New Black” DIY look, try nurses’ scrubs in vibrant orange. Give things an adult twist by slipping on a form fitting mini dress or romper in the same shade.Check Price on Amazon
What about going a little more vintage with your Women’s Prisoner costume? There are some great DIY options for that as well. You’ll want a pair of white or at the very least light gray jeans or khakis and a white or gray oversized tee shirt. A great place to find these is at a second hand or thrift shop rather than using your favorite clothing. You’ll also need to pick up a roll or two of black duct tape. Duct tape is great for this costume. It will give you good straight lines and cling to your clothing without the use of a hot glue gun or craft glue. Create horizontal stripes on both the tee shirt and the pants with the duct tape. Make sure the stripes don’t cinch your clothing; you want a loose and comfortable fit for this costume. Remember to include a set of waist chains and hand cuffs with this costume. You can even get that funny little striped hat to include in the ensemble to help complete the look. Add in your prisoner number on the chest and back of the costume. If you don’t have a steady hand, grab some iron on numbers and letters from your local craft store. Remember to don your ball and chain for your ankle and your costume is complete.
