Nancy (Nightmare on Elm Street, Dream Warriors)
This Nightmare on Elm Street costume is one of the simplest to pull together. Pick out a simple nightgown and some slippers. You want big, bouffant classic Eighties hair-with bed head. Don’t forget to include that trademark Nancy streak of gray or white in your hair. Makeup will be easy. For the eyes, create a hollowed-out look. Use a sweep of dark eyeshadow in gray and brown shades above and below your eyes. Props can be an empty bottle of caffeine tablets or a Coke can.

Kristen (Dream Warriors, Dream Master)
Kristen is the Queen of the Dream Warriors and the one with the greatest power over Freddy. Kristen can pull people in and out of dreams. This costume is also super easy to DIY. Like the Nancy costume, you have what you need in your house this very minute. Slip into a simple nightie and add a little interest in the material with some razor-sharp rips. Pop some comfy fuzzy socks on your feet. Don’t want to spend the evening in a nightgown? Jeans and a Henley style top can work as well. The key for this costume is going to be blond hair and the same haggard, sleep deprived look as Nancy. You’ll want to get your hands on a pin straight blond wig that is medium length. If you’re a blond, you have this costume nailed.Check Price on Amazon
Taryn (Dream Warriors)
Taryn is another victim of the nefarious Freddy. She is a tough girl with a heart of gold. She is also a deadly killer punk super-heroine. Taryn has an amazing talent for using razor sharp switchblades to defeat Freddy. Start with a sky high mohawk hairdo. Don a leather dog collar style choker with lots of spikes or studs.Check Price on Amazon

Finish off this costume with a pair of black boots. Your props here will be ninja throwing stars and stiletto or switchblade knives.Check Price on Amazon
Freddy (ALL the Nightmare on Elm Street movies)
All you need to DIY this one is an ugly dark red and green sweater and some black pants. You can make both as ratty as you like (he’s dead, after all). Footwear can be whatever you’re comfortable in, but a pair of clunky boots is best. Dollar stores will have that necessary bladed glove. They’ll also have a battered brown fedora and a “bald head” cap. You’ll need Freddy’s hooked nose, too. Halloween costume shops will have this, along with spirit gum and scar wax for realism. Use scar wax, latex, and spirit gum to create Freddy’s pitted landscape of a face. Use any left-over materials to create craters, oozing sores, and scars on Freddy’s neck and skull.

Joey (Dream Warriors, Dream Master)
The best part of this costume is that Joey is non-speaking. You don’t have to talk to anyone if you don’t want to and blame it on being in character. As a Dream Warrior, he is not silent. His deafening screams are devastating to his biggest foe – Freddy. Joey’s costume is an easy to do Halloween costume. All you need is a T shirt and a pair of jeans. Footwear for this costume is going to be your everyday sneakers. You’ll need wet look hair for this costume. Some water droplets on your head and neck will get you bonus points. Pick up a container of clear slime to ace these effects. A soggy looking rolled up magazine will make an excellent prop. You see, Joey had a waterbed mishap.Check Price on Amazon
Kincaid (Dream Warriors, Dream Master)
Kincaid is powerful enough to bend steel with his bare hands. He can also lift cars and obliterate walls with one punch. Your costume begins with a bright red tank top, T-Shirt, or muscle shirt. Next, you’ll need a pair of comfortable denim overalls. If you don’t already have a pair of these in your wardrobe, head to the secondhand store. You can also grab your favorite denim jeans and a pair of elastic suspenders. For footwear, slip into a pair of red sneakers. You can also opt for a pair of bright red Wrestlers boots. Slip a white terry cloth band on each arm and you’re all set.
Will (Dream Warriors, Dream Master)
Caster of spells and keeper of magic. For this Nightmare on Elm Street costume, you will only need a few key pieces. Slip into a plain white T shirt. Pick out a nerdy button-down long-sleeved shirt. Grab your most comfortable pair of jeans and a pair of sneakers. You’ll need to visit your local Halloween costume shop to find the most important piece of this costume. You want to buy a neck to heel cape. This needs to be jet black inside and out. The cape needs to swirl around you in a flourish, and trail behind you when you walk. Check out the dollar store for a pair of large, framed glasses with clear lenses. You’ll also need a Wizards’ necklace with a talisman to hang around your neck. A large book of Dungeons and Dragons-esque spells will give your costume the final touch.Check Price on Amazon
